Hair & Scalp Treatments Colette Hair Salon & Day Spa embraces research of highly respected international companies such as Rene Furterer, Framesi, Pureology and Rusk. These companies have independently endorsed the use of natural organic ingredients to treat hair and scalp leaving it healthy, luxurious and manageable. The salon specializes in Rene' Furterer scalp and hair treatments (specific treatments for oily, dehydrated, dry, sensitive irritated hair and scalp as well as treatments for weaken, color-treated, grey, dull, flat and rebellious/unruly hair. Hair Color Whether you desire caramel highlights, glazed chestnut, woodsy browns or fiery reds, quality hair color is what you will experience at the hands of the Salons expert colorists. The salon uses several internationally known european hair color lines in order to have the right product for the right client. Framesi (from Milan, Italy) is our primary color line, and is created by professionals for professionals. The color line is known for its innovative technology that lends itself to color that can be consistently recreated time after time.

Glazing Demi-permanent and glazing are the same thing. Demi color does not penetrate the hair shaft like permanent color, but usually holds more pigment than a semi permanent color. Both gradually fade with each shampoo. Ask your hairdresser for advice.

Corrective Color Speaks for itself. Color is used to correct errors regardless of where/how it was done. Unfortunately, color correction can be time consuming and therefore, expensive. The process can take as much as 4 hours depending on what has happened and condition of the hair. It is better to pay a little now than a lot later.

Highlights/Lowlights A system of highlighting or low lighting hair, can be used as a touch-up or a complete head from base to end in small partings. Highlights and lowlight are used to add depth, depth and dimension to a hair style.

Baliage Highlighting Sometimes referred to as "hair painting," Baliage is a process of highlighting and/or lowlighting the hair using either a few strands or larger chunky sections. The color is applied by freehand and bleeds a bit onto the surrounding strands. The process can be done on the entire head or in specific areas to compliment a style or draw attention to a particular area.



Waxing Body Waxing Hair Removal & Shaping Our European trained specialists have earned the "The best wax specialists in the city" for classic and Brazilian waxing by Chicago Magazine and Chicago Tribune (Women's Section). Waxing services are performed using only the world's best European wax and first quality linen. Take it all off. Waxing, a temporary hair removal method, removes hair from the root. New growth will not reappear for two to eight weeks. Almost any area of the body can be waxed including eyebrows, face, bikini, legs, arms, back, abdomen, feet and genital areas.

In the U.S., Brazilian bikini waxing has been fashionable since the 90's reportedly starting in New York City in 1987 by 7 Brazilian sisters (Jocely, Jonice, Joyce, Janea, Jussara, Juracy, and Judsela Padilha, also known as the "J Sisters"). The J Sisters opened a small waxing salon bringing with them the idea and techniques to remove much or all of the hair in that region to make it possible to wear today's thong underwear and thong bikini styles. Many people use different waxing style names interchangeably; they request a Brazilian wax when they really want a Hollywood wax, or bikini wax and vice versa. Historically, the process has been done for centuries.

Brazilian Waxing differs from the regular Bikini Wax in that hair is removed in the front, back and everything betwixt. Depending on the client, a small patch is left but well trimmed.

Men's Waxing Men and women wax for the same reasons; image, they or their partners prefer smooth skin, cultural expectations, religion, hygiene, sexual sensitivity, or professional expectations. Sport Manicure-- This is a basic, quick cosmetic nail treatment…i.e. soaking, cleaning, trimming, and shaping. "Light" buffing may be added if requested.

Classic Manicure -- The Classic nail service includes all of the above but additional cuticle treatment, hydrating lotion combined with a short stimulating massage, and your choice of a nail polish color (and we have many to choose from) or buffing. Pedicures in this category also include treatment of calluses.

French Manicure-- French manicures are popular among American women and for excellent reason - the French manicure is a versatile clean contemporary look for all occasions be it office, weddings, jeans or a black tie. The classic French manicure is designed to enhance the contrast between the main part of your nail and its tip. This service combines all of the Classic nail services and usually has a light pink or nude base coat, with the hint or contrast of the fingernail tip painted bright white or contrasting color. The French manicure is a fashion basic when it comes to nails. But occasionally women love to add a bit of glamour to this manicure by incorporating designs to their nails. The French nail service has its origins in the 18th century.

Gold Coast Manicure -- This deluxe service includes all of the Classic services plus an exfoliating scrub, hydrating mask, hot towels, relaxing hand/arm (foot/leg) massage, a paraffin hot glove treatment, and your choice of finish (color or French). A relaxing indulgent experience not to be missed!

No Chip Manicure/Pedicure True? Really? Absolutely! This nail service is a specialty service, a hybrid between nail lacquer and gel. The "No-chip" is brushed on, exactly like polish and dried under a UV light for processing. The finish looks exactly like fresh polish, dries immediately and has phenomenal durability with the added expectation of lasting 2 to 4 weeks. Massage Whether your preference is a gentle full-body massage or extra attention paid to especially tense areas, our qualified therapists will tailor your treatment to best promote a healthy equilibrium of body, mind, and spirit.

Swedish Massage This full-body massage incorporates soothing strokes to promote circulation and relieve soreness and stiffness. Muscle tensions melt as balance is restored. 30, 60 or 90 minutes.  

Deep Tissue Massage This custom designed massage will release muscle tension and chronic pain in specific areas.  Various deep tissue techniques, trigger point or stretching may be incorporated for a deeper level of bodywork. A perfect treatment to release specific areas of congestion. 30, 60 or 90 minutes.

Sports Massage   A vigorous massage designed to reduce lingering muscle tension created during athletic activity. Designed specifically for before or after sports activity. 30, 60 or 90 minutes.

Hot Rock Massage Heated stones of various sizes are gently run across the body in a soothing rhythmic flow to melt away stress while relieving tense muscles and sore joints. Swedish massage is incorporated in order to bring about balance and healing of the body. 60 minutes.  

Pregnancy Massage Ease your aching muscles and comfort yourself while also giving your baby a treat. Your therapist can adapt your massage for any stage of pregnancy and or postpartum. Massage is performed in the slide line position using special pregnancy pillow.  It is recommended to check with your doctor before receiving a massage. 60 minutes.



Wedding Day Hair and Makeup Whether the wedding is sophisticated, high fashion, whimsical or traditional…the salon performs. Large groups or small, the entire staff is prepared to assist in making your special day flawless and enjoyable. From

Bridal Showers, to rehearsal day manicures, pedicures and blowdry's -- to the big day itself -- the salon's highly trained specialists and technicians are there to assist. Every Bride is interviewed months in advance to discover who she is...her vision...what she is comfortable with, and most important -- what she wants. When clarity of vision is understood, a hair style is created based upon the brides interview, her dress, veil placement (if any), and of course -- her hair. Whether it be a wedding blow-dry style, hair pinned half up or all the way up, each and every design is as unique as the bride herself. Practice sessions are scheduled and done well in advance to ensure there are no disappointments on the big day. Colette Hair Salon and Day Spa employs an Event/Wedding Coordinator to ensure appointments are made in a timely manner...including those all important practice sessions. The Coordinator makes sure everything runs smoothly; be it rehearsal day, spa preparations, booking manicures and pedicures for showers, to the scheduling of timely appointments on the big day itself. From large wedding parties to small, the salon is capable of handling, and takes great steps to ensure, each bride, her family and attendants are happy, supported, and equally important, pampered and satisfied.
